Time Out says

The alpine festival brings music to the mountains.

Combining live music with skiing is possibly the most pleasing alpine trend of recent years, and the Rock the Pistes festival is one of the best. Held in the Franco-Swiss Portes du Soleil region – which covers Champéry on the Swiss side of the border and Châtel, Morzine, Morgins, Les Gets and Avoriaz on the French side – Rock the Pistes offers the chance to break up your day’s skiing by dancing in your ski boots to live music on the mountaintop, before continuing the party with more music down in the villages each evening.

Now in its fifth year, Rock the Pistes has lined up five slopeside gigs this year from artists Brigitte, Charlie Winston, Dub Inc, Selah Sue and The Dø, while another 30 bands will play in the villages.

A gig ticket includes lift access to the whole Portes du Soleil region, so effectively the music is an added bonus.
