The Museum of Contemporary Art in Basel opened in 1980 as the first public museum in Europe exclusively dedicated to the production and practice of contemporary art from the 1960s to the present.
As part of Kunstmuseum Basel, it showcases the Fine art museum's masterworks of modernism while it is closed for renovation until April 2016.
