Lugano New Year's Eve

Lugano’s ritzy centrepiece, neoclassical Piazza della Riforma plays host to a beautiful outdoor New Year’s Eve party. From 11pm, thousands of people gather on the square to bop away to a soundtrack of recent hits provided by Radio 3i DJs – who have champagne corks ready to pop. While a light show brings the grandiose backdrop to life, special effects accompany the countdown to midnight. New year, Italian-style – what could be more fun? The party dies away only in the early hours, so go along with your most energetic dancing feet.
