Moon and Stars

Of all the Swiss summer festivals in stunning locations, Moon and Stars boasts perhaps the most dramatic. In fact, the grandiose setting of Piazza Grande in Locarno is among the most beautiful concert venues in Europe. With room for an audience of 12,000, the renaissance square transforms for ten days each July into an illuminated sea of bobbing heads. Filling the space is never a problem, as Moon and Stars has a reputation for securing top national and international pop and rock performers. Among this year’s headline acts are Ellie Goulding, Pharrell Williams, Earth Wind & Fire, Tom Jones and Lana Del Rey. For some, Locarno is now the ‘Montreux of the Southern Alps’ – an accolade indeed.
