Head up Bern's local mountain for this four-day music festival.
Founded in 1977 as a folk festival, Gurten Festival is now one of Switzerland’s biggest music events, hosting big name international bands and Swiss artists over four days on top of Bern's local mountain, the Gurten. It's a fantastic spot for a summer festival and, if the weather's good, waking up with the sun on your tent to beautiful views of the city below is enough to brush away any hangover (well, maybe). If it rains, however, even the super-organised nature of the campsite and facilities can’t prevent your two-man supermarket-bought tent from collapsing in a pool of water.
This year's programme headliners include Muse, Paul Kalkbrenner, Kygo, James Bay and Rudimental as well as a host of supports.
