The 2015 edition of the Baloise Session has some big names on the bill including Iggy Pop, Paolo Nutini, Tori Amos and Faithless.
Billed as a ‘boutique’ music festival, the Baloise Session (formerly the AVO Session) celebrates its 30th birthday this year. What marks it out from other music festivals is its setting. Held in the Event Hall of the Messe Basel, it creates an intimate, club-like setting, with the audience seated around candlelit tables rather than in rows. It’s all the more unusual because the artists that perform here are of the calibre that normally play to stadiums and arenas. We’re talking (in previous years) Elvis Costello, Eric Clapton, Jamiroquai, Pink, KT Tunstall, James Blunt, Robert Plant, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Cee Lo Green, Rod Stewart, The Beach Boys, The Supremes and the late James Brown.
