Nyon's annual music festival.
What started as a modest folk festival in 1976 has now become one of Switzerland’s most established music festivals, drawing big name stars to the 84-hectare grassy (or muddy, depending on the weather) site above Nyon to play to 230,000 spectators across the week. The festival's seven stages welcome both up-and-coming artists and long-established legends, along with street performers and circus acts.
Bands announced for the 2016 Paleo Festival so far include British rock outfit Muse and Les Insus, the reformed incarnation of French rock legends Téléphone.
Like any open-air festival, it's possible to camp on site with a multi-day ticket, or buy a day pass only.
