Sassafraz

Sassafraz styles itself as a concept restaurant and while that might be off-putting, in fact it's an inviting little restaurant that does a good job of combining traditional cuisine with modern surroundings. The kitchen’s drive to create a hearty, authentic menu is underpinned by fresh ingredients, seasonality and a focus on quality over flashiness in the choice of dishes. While a few salads do make it onto the menu, the choice is not much of a departure from the meat-based fare at the heart of Swiss cuisine. In this case, however, a little imagination goes a long way, and you can find game in season as well as interesting variations on beef and pork dishes (although the fish and chips does seem out of place). The service is friendly, albeit sometimes less than efficient during the lunch-time rush.
