Sleepy Noiraigue in Canton Neuchatel isn’t the sort of place you just happen upon – but once you have, you are likely to detour to it time and again. The village is home to the renowned Jacot Chocolatier, which has been refining its chocolate here for more than 50 years. It’s not without reason that some famous watch companies order these edible works of art for their company Christmas presents. The chocolates are made with Grand Cru from Venezuela, Equador and Madagascar, as well as a small selection of all natural ingredients. Among the specialities are slender, nail-shaped chocolates filled with a delicate chocolate cream; absinthe-flavoured sticks (the chocolatier is close to the home of absinthe); and bars in flavours from Earl Grey tea to salted caramel. There are always plenty of tasters laid out in the shop, and you can also book chocolate tastings to learn more about the secrets behind creating these little delicacies: it is said to be the best way to awaken your senses.
