Well known for its thermal waters, the pretty alpine village of Leukerbad has several spas, but this is one of the best. Located in the village centre, its outdoor pool has a gorgeous view of the mountains, making it easy to while away a few hours in the 36-40 degree water or on the deck chairs around the edge. It’s a particularly lovely experience when the snow descends. Inside, there’s another large pool and a delightful ‘sauna village’. Managing to be twee yet stylish at the same time, this collection of Swiss wood cabins houses several saunas and steam rooms, an outdoor relaxation area and a massage room. You can also stretch, scrub and detoxify yourself with a variety of treatments including hot stones, watsu (massage in water) and foot reflexology. Every last Saturday of the month you can bathe in the moonlight in a special late night opening to 11.30pm.
