Now in its 96th edition, this annual fair celebrates everything Swiss, including the food, the music, the wine, artisan products, fashion, traditional customs and culture, rural life, modern invention and – of course – its cows. Held in the vast indoor and outdoor spaces of the Beaulieu congress centre, Comptoir Suisse is a fun day out and an opportunity to perhaps learn a thing or two you didn’t otherwise know about Switzerland.
This year’s event promises 480 exhibitors, an 8,000m2 farm featuring 400 animals, a 700-seat arena hosting cattle competitions, dog parades and equestrian events, a hall dedicated to creative workshops and an outdoor stage for a programme of live music.
Rather less Swiss, the event will also highlight the culinary flair of guest exhibiting country Mexico, and boast a large surf pool with a continuous breaking wave where visitors can practise surfing.
