Frau Gerolds Garten

It might look like a bunch of shabby sheds at first sight, but this collection of piled up containers is Zurich's latest cool hangout and shopping location. Initiated in 2012 and running on a five-year contract with the city, Frau Gerolds Garten is not only a small green oasis amidst old factory buildings and noisy trains passing by but also a café, an outdoor restaurant (weather permitting), a Saturday market (check website for dates) and a small shopping centre for local fashion labels. Helping hands are always welcome at the garden, and urban gardening classes are run throughout spring and summer.
