One of the best outdoor pools by Lake Geneva.

There may be a great big lake on our doorstep, but sometimes the convenience and facilities of swimming in an outdoor pool appeal instead – it’s all the fun with none of the hassle that comes with al fresco bathing (ie, hunting down a toilet, trying to maintain modesty while changing behind a towel).

Pully-Plage has got the combination down pat. An altogether nicer and calmer experience than Lausanne’s Bellerive but with the same calibre of view and similar facilities, this outdoor swimming complex in the village of Pully is worth the bus ride. Lane swimmers can do lengths in the Olympic sized pool, leaving kids to splash about in the second ‘non-swimming’ pool and toddlers to toddle in the smaller paddling pool.

The complex also boasts ping-pong tables, beach-volleyball courts, an area for sun loungers and plenty of grassy space for sunbathing. It gets understandably busy on weekends and after school.
