Time Out says

Zurich is inundated with Christmas markets each year, ideal for gift-hunting.

Zurich adores Christmas, and it’s a truly lovely experience to wander through the city’s many Christmas markets, starting with the biggest – the 150 stalls of the Christkindlimarkt in the main train station. Featuring a huge Christmas tree decorated with Swarovski crystals, it’s a great introduction to Zurich for those just stepping off the train. The festive atmosphere continues in the Old Town, where the city’s oldest Christmas market sets up on the streets of Niederdorf and Hirschenplatz. A more artisan affair, it displays handicrafts, jewellery and edible gifts made by producers from Zurich and further afield. Elsewhere in the city, don’t miss the singing Christmas tree (not an actual singing tree, sadly, but a local children’s choir singing on a tree-like structure) as part of the tiny market on Werdmühleplatz, or the city’s latest addition, a lively 50-hut market at the Europaallee featuring a fondue hut and a pyramid bar selling that essential Christmas market accompaniment, mulled wine.
