Watch Switzerland's biggest new year fireworks with 199,999 other people in Zurich.
It’s entrusted to festival-loving Zurich to host the largest New Year’s Eve party in Switzerland, which attracts around 200,000 people to the city centre streets every year. The centrepiece is the massive fireworks display let off from two anchored boats in the lake at 20 past midnight, after allowing the city’s church bells to ring in the new year first. But partygoers gather well before that. From 8pm head to the lakeside streets including Limmatquai, Quaibrücke and Bürkliplatz to watch live music, partake of a bratwurst and some glühwein and join in the general merriment. After the fireworks, celebrations continue until 3am.
