Time Out says

On Friday, July 4, starting at 6.30 PM, Time Out Market fills with the rhythms and dances of Africa at the Oyofé Festival. A full evening of music, movement, and urban African culture, with open activities for everyone: dance classes, artist talks, jam sessions, and a final DJ party. All part of the Oyofé Festival, an international gathering that celebrates the diversity of African street dance — blending traditional rhythms with contemporary styles.

Throughout the day, visitors can join workshops, listen to the stories of dancers and artists, witness an improvised jam session with musicians and spoken word performers, and dance into the night with DJ Drenk, DJ Nia, and DJ Soffmae.

The festival brings together dancers, choreographers, and artists from across Africa and beyond, creating a space for cultural exchange and collective expression. Through street dance, battles, performances, and parties, it showcases how African culture thrives and evolves in the streets — with dance as a shared language. Are you in?

Schedule:

  • 6.30-8.00 PM: Dance class with professional dancers and festival students. They’ll also talk about styles, artistic journeys, and experiences.

  • 8-10 PM: Town Square Improvisation Night — a jam session with musicians, dancers, and spoken word artists.

  • 10 PM-1 AM: Party with DJ Drenk, DJ Nia, and DJ Soffmae.
