Guinness has unveiled the first edition of its Harp Guide, highlighting place that best represent British pub culture

Guinness has had the United Kingdom in a chokehold over the last few years. There was one point last year when Brits had become so obsessed with the stout that its owner Diageo said it couldn’t produce enough to keep up with the ‘exceptional consumer demand’.
Things have calmed down a little since then, but Brits are still obsessed with the black stuff. And now, to help us find the very best pints of Guinness in the country, the brand has has unveiled its inaugural Harp Guide.
The Harp Guide is a roundup of British pubs that stand out above the the rest in five categories: quality pours, welcoming atmosphere, strong community, great service, and a genuine love of Guinness. The brand says it created the guide to spotlight the pubs that represent the best of British pub culture.
There are a total of 35 boozers on this year’s list, almost a third of which are in London (you can read about those here). Liverpool was the next best repped city on the list with three pubs, while Glasgow, Brighton, Didsbury, Newcastle and Sheffield each had two.

Every place that made the cut will now get an official brass Guinness harp plaque to display. The winning establishments include Mulligans in Manchester, Kitty O’Shea’s in Glasgow, The Star in Bristol, and Pogue Mahone’s in Liverpool.
