Few gigs have been as long- or highly-anticipated as this summer’s Oasis reunion tour. Fans waited 16 years for the Gallaghers to get over an argument they had back in 2009, but the time has finally come. The brothers are in the middle of their mega comeback tour, having already hit London, Cardiff, and Manchester – and now they are ready to come north of the border.

Whether you’re getting ready to see the band for the first time ever or you’re out to relive the glory days, there’s a few things you need to know. There’s a lot of stuff you’re not allowed to take in with you for safety reasons, and a specific bag policy, which you should definitely bare in mind. The last thing you want is to get turned away at the turnstile and have to walk back through suburban Edinburgh listening to everyone else having fun.

Here’s everything you need to know about Murrayfield stadium’s bag policy to ensure you have a safe, smooth sailing night this weekend.

Oasis Murrayfield bag policy

Each person will be allowed one, small personal bag. Anything else will be confiscated at security. Murrayfield’s website states that ‘spectators are urged to only bring such limited and necessary possessions as they can keep on their person’, so try your best to leave as much back at home/your hotel room as you can.

If you need any extra baggage for a medical reason, make sure you tell a steward when you arrive so they can direct you to a dedicated security point. They’ll add a tag indicating that your bag is for medical or childcare purposes, which you must keep on until you leave.

Does Murrayfield have a bag drop?

Unfortunately for anyone sporting an oversized bag, there’s nowhere in or nearby the stadium that you can leave it for the duration of the concert. Your best bet is to find a luggage storage service nearby and pay for them to keep hold of your stuff while you have a good time. There are plenty within walking distance of the stadium, so just have a search around online to find one that suits your needs.

What size bag can I bring into Murrayfield Stadium?

As is standard at stadiums and arenas, your bag must be A4 size or smaller. That means a max size of 297mm height and 210mm width and depth.

Are there any banned items?

We (hopefully) don’t have to tell you to leave blades and explosives at home, but there’s a couple of other things which aren’t allowed that you might not have thought of. For instance golf umbrellas are a no.

Here’s a full list of the banned items from Murrayfield Stadium:

  • Bags larger than a4 – unless required for medical or childcare purposes.
Food or alcohol of any kind (small amounts of food can be permitted for medical purposes)
  • Hip flasks, metal drinks bottles, thermos flasks, hard cased refillable water bottles, cans, metal or hard plastic bottles, or any kind of glass containers (small, refillable plastic/metal coffee tumblers under 600ml are permitted as long as they are empty). Bins will be available at turnstiles for disposing of items or contents.
  • Sealed or unsealed plastic soft drinks/water bottle larger than 500ml.
  • Fireworks, flares, smoke bombs or any other kind of pyrotechnic item.
  • Knives, weapons, dangerous or hazardous items.
  • Banners or flags with slogans which are offensive, abusive or of a racist, homophobic or discriminatory nature.
  • Animals other than guide or assistance dogs
  • Golf or large umbrellas (note – small, foldable umbrellas are permitted)
  • Professional/commercial cameras / cameras with detachable lenses and/or cameras that do not fit comfortably in the pocket.
  • Tripods, selfie sticks, i-pads
  • Any other items deemed to pose a risk of injury or annoyance to other customers
