The weather has been pretty shite lately, so we’d understand if you were feeling the April-shower scaries. But if you wanted something incredible to look forward to during the sure-to-be-stormy tail end of spring? We have just the ticket.

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, which runs a rail service between Cheriton (near Folkestone) and Coquelles (near Calais), has launched a sale, with return day trips costing just £50 (yep, you read that right).

The offer will cover journeys between April 18 and May 24 2023, and applies to all day trips booked before May 5. The journey takes just 35 minutes, roughly the same amount of time it takes to get out of central London to Heathrow Airport.

And if you’re wondering what you might be able to do when you’re in Calais? There are all sorts of interesting-sounding things to do in this bit of France, like take the kids to Nausicaá (Europe’s biggest aquarium, in Boulogne-sur-Mer) or go on a tax-free shopping trip around various malls and supermarkets near the ferry terminal.

Tempted to make the trip? You can find about more about the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle deal here

ICYMI: England is getting four new official wild swimming spots for the summer.

Plus: This was the worst airline in the UK for flight delays in 2022.
