Mention Boxpark to a Londoner and you’ll probably get one of two reactions — a heavy eye-roll or an excited spiel about how great it is. Described as a ‘pop-up mall’, the first one opened in Shoreditch in 2011 and two more followed in Croydon and Wembley.

Now, the food hall slash events destination will be popping up outside of the capital for the very first time. Boxpark Liverpool will be the first of its venues outside of London and is set to open in a matter of weeks. It will be a 21,000 metre space in the city's Baltic Triangle and showcase ‘the very best traders across global cuisine’.

The grand opening, feat an ’epic launch party and a serious line-up of festival-style events’ will be on Friday, April 19

Boxpark Liverpool been quite a long time coming. Planning permission for the £5 million venue was granted early last year and it was meant to open last autumn. The venue suffered various delays and had to be pushed back.

Hopefully, it will all prove to be worth the wait. Apparently the Scouse site will create 150 jobs and work closely with the city council to champion local businesses.

Steve Rotheram, mayor of the Liverpool City region, said: ‘The Baltic Triangle is one of our area’s great urban regeneration success stories and is now a hub of vibrant and creative venues. To put it simply, nowhere is better placed to host the Boxpark’s newest venue – the first outside of London – and I can’t wait to see it grow from strength to strength in its new home!’

Several more new Boxparks are set to pop around the UK in the coming weeks and months. Boxhall Bristol will also open its doors this year (just one of the reason's Bristol is Time Out’s best place to visit 2024), as will Boxhall Liverpool Street. Plus, a massive outlet in Birmingham is planned for 2025.
