With tickets set to go on sale next week (yep, next week!), we’re already excited for Glastonbury 2024. And after months of guessing the headliners, now, excitingly, we’ve had a solid hint at who’ll be taking over the Pyramid Stage next summer. Festival co-organiser Emily Eavis has just dropped some bombs on who might be headlining next year.

Eavis went on BBC podcast Sidetracked with Annie and Nick today (October 26) and revealed that next year’s legend slot will be a female act. And that’s not all. She also suggested that two of next year’s headliners could be women and that the festival has recently been offered a ‘really big American artist’ as well.

The Worthy Farm festival was criticised last year for its gender split of artists, with the 2023 event headlined by an all-male suite of acts: Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John. Eavis’ announcement set netizens into a guessing frenzy with many believing it to be Madonna. Taylor Swift is another name on people’s lips for one of the other, non-legend headline slots.

Eavis said: ‘I’ve always been really passionate about gender split (on festival lineups) and I think actually, our problem was that I’d been so outspoken about it that having a year where there wasn’t a female sent people a bit mad, or some people.’

‘It is difficult with female artists because there aren’t enough headliners. But we’re also creating them. We’re putting the bands and female artists on smaller stages and bringing them through all the time so I feel like the pool is going to be bigger soon. And who knows next year we might get two… And certainly, I can say that the legend is female.’

According to Eavis, headliners are slated to be revealed at the start of next year. Tickets for the 2024 festival will go on sale next with prices at £360. Find out how to get one here.
