A major open-air music venue is coming to Glasgow next year – and it’ll be the biggest venue of its kind in the Scottish city.
The new waterfront venue – which is called Clydeside Live – is on the banks of the River Clyde. Its capacity has not been announced yet, but it will be the vastest in Glasgow, and home to Scotland’s largest electronic music festival Terminal V (one of Time Out’s favourite music fests in the UK).
Multi-day techno party Terminal V lost its original home in Edinburgh last year due to spiralling costs. But its founders were keen to keep the annual celebration in Scotland, and it was announced today (September 29) that next year’s Terminal V will be hosted at Clydeside Live.
Terminal V’s founders Derek Martin and Simon McGrath said in a statement: ‘Finding the right home for the next chapter of Terminal V was hugely important to us, and from the moment we saw this site we could see its potential.
‘The scale, the riverside setting and the industrial landscape around it feel completely aligned with Terminal V and give us the freedom to create something we simply couldn’t have done before.’
Terminal V started nine years ago. It began as a one-day party at the Royal Highland Centre for 2,000 people and has grown to become one of the world’s leading electronic music festivals (more than 30 percent of ticket sales come from outside Scotland). The concept spawned Croatian and Australian editions, as well as nights at London’s Drumsheds.
Last year, Mall Grab, I Hate Models and Ben Hemsley headlined Terminal V, alongside 100 other artists across six stages. To mark its 10th anniversary in 2027, there will be a new main stage on the water’s edge, alongside reimagined outdoor setups for iconic stages The Hangar and The Greenhouse.
