The hugely successful singer is celebrating 20 years of his best-selling album, Back to Bedlam, with an arena tour

Here’s a fact to make you feel old: it’s been 20 years since James Blunt first graced our radios with ‘You’re Beautiful’, a song which undeniably left its mark on British pop culture. Admittedly, it is not always remembered fondly (Rolling Stone reportedly named it the seventh most annoying song of all time), but Blunt has famously taken the negativity on the chin, becoming well known as an all-round decent guy.
Despite the bad press, Blunt’s debut LP Back to Bedlam was the best selling album of the 2000s in the UK, so he was clearly doing something right. If you were one of the many thousands who enjoyed the record all those years ago, we’ve got some exciting news for you.
The Hampshire singer is embarking on a Europe-wide tour to mark the 20th anniversary of his debut album Back to Bedlam, which he says is his only album ’that people actually bought’.
He explained: ‘The record label and I thought we should repackage it with some early demos, and milk it for all it’s worth.’
Excited to see Back to Bedlam on its anniversary tour? Here’s everything you could possibly need to know about James Blunt’s Back to Bedlam tour.
Blunt will be playing five shows in arenas across the UK, staring in Belfast on February 11 and ending in London on February 16. Looks like that will be a pretty busy week for him.
General sale for James Blunt will begin at 10am on Friday May 31 (next Friday). You’ll be able to get yours on Ticketmaster here.
Depending on your city, you may also be able to buy tickets directly from your venue, so it’s worth checking venue-specific websites ahead of the date.
There are a couple of different presales, but the easiest way to assure your spot in one is to pre-order the Back to Bedlam 20th anniversary record. This will automatically qualify you for presale, which is on Wednesday May 29 at 10am.
There will also be presale available to customers of O2 and Three, but these vary from venue to venue.
As tickets aren’t out yet, we can’t be exactly certain of how much they’ll cost.
However, based on similar sized shows James is doing this summer it’s likely standing tickets will be somewhere in the £50-65 range, with tickets getting more expensive if you want to be seated or a special package.
The party doesn’t stop in London. If you miss out on tickets to one of Blunt’s UK shows, you can catch him in Brussels, Paris, Bologna, and Zurich.
Never one to beat around the bush, Blunt said: ‘I’ve been touring now for twenty years, and really, it’s only ‘Back To Bedlam’ that people want to hear.’
He continued: ‘I’ll play all the songs from Back To Bedlam in full, from start to finish, and chuck in the better-known songs from later albums to finish. It’s going to be, well, it pains me to say it… beautiful.’ Ba-dum-tssss.
