The Cumbria Travel Pass permits unlimited travel on almost all of the Lake District’s trains, buses and boats

The UK doesn’t get much more beautiful than the Lake District. It’s got adorable chocolate-box villages, majestic peaks, mesmerising waterfalls and, of course, those lakes that are so blue and pristine they feel like another world altogether.
From the gorgeous Ullswater Lake to William Wordsworth’s former home, the region has endless sites worth exploring. But when you don’t have a car, travelling between them all can be tricky... and expensive. Now, there’s a brand new travel pass that’ll make day trips and weekend breaks across Cumbria and the Lake District that little bit affordable.
For £40 for one day or £99 for three days, the Cumbria Travel Pass lets travellers hop on and off trains, buses and some boats in the area to their heart’s content. If you’re a railcard holder you can get it even cheaper with the discount. The pass is half price for kids and under fives can travel free.
Of course, if you plan on sticking to one place while you’re in Cumbria, the pass won’t be worth it. But if, for example, you wanted to book a day return train journey from Carlisle to Windermere, then take the bus from the station to the lake and hop on a 90-minute Windermere Cruise, the pass would save you around £14.
It’s valid on Northern, TransPennine and Avanti trains, Stagecoach buses and Windermere Cruises. Plus, it gives users exclusive discounts at Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Coniston Launch, Keswick Launch and Ullswater Steamers.
