Another day, another round of high street closures. We’re used to it by now – retail chains, coffee places and bank branches shutting up shop from either going bust or simply in favour of moving things to the digital sphere.

Now, after closing 402 branches over the last two years, the NatWestGroup – which includes NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank –has announced that even more sites will be shutting their doors as it shifts to internet banking.

Eighteen NatWest sites are due to close in the new year, as well as one RBS branch. They include branches in Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool and Bradford.

The news comes as over 500 banks across the country have closed in this year alone. Barclays said goodbye to 185 branches, Lloyds scrapped 112, and Halifax closed 72.

NatWest Group said that the average number of transactions made in its physical banks fell by 60 percent in the four years up to January 2023 as more people are using the app instead.

So, here’s the full list of the NatWest Group sites getting the chop in 2024.
