It might only be September, but lots of us are already planning our festival season for 2027. Glastonbury has just announced its ticket sale for next year’s event, but if you can’t stomach the thought of sitting in the SeeTickets queue of dread, there are other options.
A huge new music festival is coming to Somerset next summer, and it’s just 30 miles down the road from Worthy Farm. Somerset Sounds will launch in the south west in summer 2027, taking over the Cooper Associates County Ground for a series of concerts. This will be a bit of a departure for the stadium near Taunton, which is the home ground of Somerset County Cricket Club.
The line-up for the series remains a mystery, but in the past the 20,000-capacity stadium has hosted gigs from the likes of Elton John, Rod Stewart and Lionel Richie – all of whom have graced the Pyramid Stage within the last decade or so. We’re hoping for more big names, as organisers have said they hope the series will ‘turn Taunton into a staple stop on the international summer tour circuit’.
As well as the massive outdoor gigs, the stadium will host curated food, drink, and cultural pop-ups. It’s all being put together by the promoter Full Fat 360, a company well versed in producing major stadium and arena shows across the country.
