You’ve been to a pub on land. You might have even been to a pub sailing through the water. You’ve almost certainly never been to a pub up in the sky, though you might’ve enjoyed an in-flight tipple.
According to Beavertown, which you’ll know from its distinctive colourful skull-embossed logo, 67 percent of Brits feel like they do the exact same thing every bank holiday. If you ask Beavertown, that’s not on, so the brewing company has decided to take matters into its own hands.
As part of its ‘Stick Your Neck Out’ campaign, which is encouraging us regular folks to ‘step out of their comfort zone and into something unforgettable’, the brewery has put together a once-in-a-lifetime experience: a ride on the Beavertown Skulloon Tavern. AKA, a sky-high pint on a hot air balloon.
Until now, the Skulloon has existed solely as an illustration on Neck Oil cans. But on August 23 the real life version will launch for the first time ever – and you could be in it. It will be stocked up with ‘everything you’d want from a pub in the sky, from a selection of your favourite chilled beers like Neck Oil, to your classic pub snacks, a bespoke pub sign and even its very own pub carpet.’
Sounds like fun? Of course it does. In order to be in with a chance of boarding the Skulloon and being its first – and only – customers, there’s a few things you need to do. The first is to be at least 18 years old, although that’s probably obvious. Then, you need to enter using this form on Beavertown’s website. After that, you just have to wait and see if you get lucky. There will be only one winner, although you will be allowed a plus one.
The winners will not only get the hot air balloon experience, they’ll also get free transport from wherever in the UK they live to Bath, and free accommodation for the evening. There’s certainly worse ways to spend your bank holiday weekend. As a representative from Beavertown pointed out: ‘Why settle for ground-level plans when you can take things to a whole new height?’
