Brits are spoiled for choice when it comes to spectacular hikes. There are the intense mountain trials for anyone up for a challenge, breezy coastal paths for those after something more leisurely and loads more routes over rolling hills, around glistening lakes and through dramatic moorlands. But there are some trails that entice more Brits than others.

If you’ve taken on a trek this year, you might be familiar with navigation app AllTrails. As the year comes to a close, the app has released its version of Spotify Wrapped. ‘Year on Trails’ has rounded up all miles Brits trekked in 2025 and all the hours we spent trekking them. It’s also unveiled which hiking routes were the most well-trodden.

So, here are the numbers. The Year on Trails revealed that Easter Sunday was the busiest day on UK trails in 2025, with activity peaking again over the early May bank holiday. Altogether, hikers in the UK navigated 132.9 million kilometres and spent nearly 9.5 million hours in the great outdoors. Apparently, hiking activity across the nation is up by 37.7 percent year on year.

But which trails were Brits most drawn to? Well, the most popular hike in the country this year was the Llanberis Path to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (AKA Snowdon), the highest peak in Wales. The path is one of the gentler slopes up Yr Wyddfa, but it still isn’t easy. We’re talking a 3,000ft ascent that takes around five to eight hours up and down.

Walkers were up for a challenge, with all three of AllTrails’ most popular routes categorised as having a ‘hard’ intensity level. Ben Nevis Mountain Track, the highest peak in the UK, was the second most popular and the route from Wasdale Campsite up to the top of Scafell Pike (England’s tallest mountain) came in third. Read on for the full list.
