Let’s be honest – autumn is the prime season for summer holidays. Yes, it feels like an oxymoron, but hear us out. The sun is just about still peaking through the clouds, the heat is actually bearable, the school holiday crowds have scattered and everything is that little bit cheaper.

Now, TripAdvisor has released its Autumn Travel Index, unveiling the travel trends of the coming season. And a lot of Brits seem to have the same idea, jetting off for a last-ditch bit of autumn heat.

According to the research, 85 percent of people have at least two trips planned between September and November and 60 percent are planning a trip abroad. TripAdvisor revealed Spain is the most popular country overall, with Benidorm and Costa Adeje claiming the top two spots and Benalmadena and Barcelona in eighth and ninth place.

On the domestic side of things, 40 percent of UK citizens are apparently planning to travel within the country over the next few months. London reigns supreme as the most popular domestic destination followed by Blackpool at number two and Edinburgh in third place.
