The nation’s favourite sheep is helping Brits get into the festive spirit. Huge multicoloured Shaun the Sheep statues have been planted all across the grounds at Bedfordshire country estate Wrest Park (just an hour and a half by train from London) for its Find the Flock Christmas trail.

Visitors can grab a trail map that’ll help them track down the 12 Shaun the Sheep sculptures, which have each been designed by a different artist. You’ll start at the visitor centre and make your way around the grounds, ending up at the grand Mansion House.

Each sheep is sporting a letter that makes up part of a mystery Christmas word. Once you’ve found the whole flock, there’ll be Christmas crafts to get involved in and marshmallows to toast over a fire. And if your kids are feeling inspired, you can book them a spot on the ‘Paint Your Own Shaun the Sheep’ workshop. There, they can decorate their own smaller ceramic model of the sheep to take home.

Elsewhere on the English Heritage site, Father Christmas will be around for storytelling sessions and photo opportunities, there’ll be a festive afternoon tea, a wreath-making workshop and live music in the staircase hall of the mansion.

Find the Flock at Wrest Park is on until January 18. It’s free with entry to the site (which starts at £14.50 for adults and £9 for kids). But it isn’t the only place you could spot Shaun this Christmas. There are also Find the Flock trails in Belsay Hall in Northumberland and next to Aviva Studios in Manchester
