How good are the vibes in your hometown? Chances are, if you’re from any of these areas, then the answer is ‘not all that good at all’.

The folks at the Office for National Statistics have figured out and revealed which UK cities and areas are the most down in the dumps, and it’s bad news for Colchester.

Residents of the Essex city took part in the ONS survey, with few people saying their lives felt ‘worthwhile’.

The poll asked residents to mark their cities on a scale of one to ten, ranking the place for happiness levels, life satisfaction and anxiety levels.

And it wasn’t just Colchester that fared pretty poorly overall (it had a 6.8 ranking for happiness), with places such as Redditch in North Worcestershire (6.8), Tunbridge Wells (6.9), Norwich (6.9) and Lambeth in London (7) also featuring in the bottom five.
