This is the city Britons that want to move abroad to the most, apparently

It’s known for its warm weather, glitzy buildings and for having zero income tax

Ever dreamed of moving to a new country and starting afresh? You’re not alone. Just over half a million Brits emigrate from the country every year (according to the ONS, anyway) – and plenty more dream of doing so.

But where around the world do Britons want to move to? Well, new research by money transfer service Remitly has analysed Google search queries with the keywords ‘move to’ over the past twelve months to reveal which city around the world Brits fancy upping sticks for.

According to Remitly, the most desired city for Brits to move to right now is Dubai. The study notes that Britons are likely attracted by the UAE city’s job opportunities, high levels of health care, glitzy infrastructure and, crucially, the prospect of zero income tax. Oh, and maybe the balmier weather. Just maybe.

And it wasn’t just us Brits that wanted to move to Dubai. Residents from 60 countries (including the US and Canada) also named Dubai as their top relocation choice.

On the flip side, London is apparently also a magnet for people from other countries around the world wanting to move abroad. The capital ranked the seventh most popular city to move to, with residents from Brazil, Spain and Turkey naming it as their destination of choice.

Here is a list of the top places people want to move to, according to Remitly.

  1. Dubai
  2. Miami
  3. Paris
  4. New York City
  5. Madrid
  6. Singapore
  7. London
  8. Brussels
  9. Toronto
  10. Washington DC, Buenos Aires, Christchurch, Quebec City, Bogota, Portland, Vienna, Phoenix, Chicago
