Every year, World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants releases a list of the finest slabs of ribeye, sirloin and T-bone on the planet. And it’s fair to say they’re sticklers for standards. The site employs a network of steak ambassadors around the globe (yep, that’s a real job) to taste-test the best of the best, judging restaurants across nine strict criteria. Each hunk of meat is evaluated on aspects like ‘feeding methods’ and ‘slaughter age’ – even the gender of the beast. That’s a real dedication to beyond belief beef.

Now, the results are in for 2026, and 10 UK restaurants have made the cut. Nine London spots appeared in the ranking this year, leaving just one British steakhouse outside the capital to be considered a purveyor of some of the UK’s finest cuts.

That accolade went to Blok, a restaurant in the village of Pontyclun, south Wales serving fine dining by fire. Sat within Lanelay Hall Hotel and Spa, it ranked at number 42 on the worldwide list.

Its selection of steaks served ‘off the Blok’ include tomahawk, porterhouse and chateaubriand. Plus, sirloin, rib-eye and fillet steaks feature can be ordered direct off the charcoal grill. This place has a serious sauce selection, including spiced rum peppercorn, blue cheese butter and beef fat béarnaise. As for sides, there’s feta, watermelon and chicory salad, miso glazed broccoli and, of course, french fries.

This isn’t the first time the rural Welsh resto has made the ranking. It first appeared on the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants last year, coming in at number 55. Glasgow’s Porter and Rye, which landed in 85th place in 2025, was knocked off the list this year.
