With a whopping one million gallons of water at its disposal, Waterworld in Staffordshire is a lively hub for any adrenaline seeking water baby. It’s got a spa, minigolf, rapids, a wave pool, and a thrilling collection of twisting and turning water slides with intense names like Thunderbolt, Stormchaser and Cyclone.

Last year, Waterworld also unveiled a £250,000 immersive play park. But the investment doesn’t stop there. Now the park is close to finishing a massive £13 million expansion.

Sadly, the spenny project won’t see any ominously-named new rides. But on the bright side, it’s helping make the site more eco-friendly. The money has gone towards installing thousands of solar panels across the building’s unused roof space to save energy and money in the long run.

It’s hoped that rgw panels will generate around one million kilowatt/hours of renewable energy annually. That’s enough to power 90 whole homes for a year.

Wayne Goodall, the chief operating officer of Waterworld, told the Business Desk: ‘Swimming pools, water parks and health clubs use a lot of energy, day in, and day out, and it’s our priority to make energy supplies as cost-effective as possible.

‘Saving money on energy can be the difference between businesses like ours surviving or failing, especially in the current climate.’
