Ever wondered what it would be like to live in the White House? Well, for a couple million quid, you won’t have to wonder – you actually can. Admittedly, this White House is in the Surrey countryside but still, an American president really did once live there.

As per the blue plaque proudly featured on the exterior, the property was home to the Hoover family in 1902, 27 years before Herbert Hoover became the thirty-first President of the USA. According to Hoover’s memoirs, his wife ‘had searched out a small country house’, though he ended up living there for less than a year.

Trivia incoming: Hoover served as the USA’s leader during the Great Depression and was the one to make the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ the country’s official national anthem. He also was cited as the richest man in the world in 1901, thanks to a fortune he amassed from gold mining.

The property was built in 1768 and features large bay windows plus a bell tower on the roof. There are lovely high ceilings, marble kitchen worktops and an expansive lawn. It also has a drawing room, dining room, study and reception room, which Curchods Estate Agents say are all ‘great for entertaining’. Here are some more pics of the place.

Each of the four double bedrooms feature their own unique fireplaces and the master enjoys a period-style en-suite bathroom. In the town of Walton-on-Thames, it is on sale for £2.35m.
