When it comes to grabbing a quick lunchtime snack, meal deals are, obviously, the UK’s go-to choice. Combining discounts on mains, drinks and snacks, meal deals from the likes of Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Boots are as versatile as they are affordable and convenient.

But now there’s a new meal deal option in town. Bougie supermarket Waitrose chain has announced its first-ever meal deal, which will include a main, side and drink for £5. Sure, it’s a little more spenny than other supermarket deals, but this is Waitrose, after all. The official name of the offer is Food To Go.

That fiver will get you discount access to a solid range of sandwiches, wraps, sushi and salads, alongside other stuff like fruit, cereal bars, juices and smoothies. Plus, MyWaitrose customers can bring their own cup to sweeten the deal with a free hot drink.

In all, ’Trose’s new meal deal might well be the biggest shake-up to the UK grab ’n’ go scene in years. You’ll start seeing the deals in UK Waitrose branches from August 30.
