Time Out says

In the beginning, there was only a clown. Specifically, a children's birthday-party entertainer in Los Angeles that started two unlikely dance movements among inner-city youth: "clowning" and a hyperkinetic offshoot called "krumping." While David LaChapelle's extraordinary documentary retains the director's knack for vibrant visuals (the film's colors sizzle your retinas, even in digital video), LaChapelle has replaced camp with genuine admiration and awe for his subjects. In his eyes, the fact that these kids stuck in low-income neighborhoods are still dancing as fast as they can is a victory unto itself.
