Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire

Movies, Documentary

Time Out says

In 1994, the United Nations sent General Roméo Dallaire to Rwanda with 500 troops to prevent genocide, and it was a lot like asking a lifeguard to stop a tsunami. Dallaire's experience should be somewhat familiar to anyone who's seen Hotel Rwanda (Nick Nolte's role of Col. Oliver was modeled in part on him), but the depth of his torment can't quite be captured in fiction. Still deeply scarred a decade later, Dallaire returns to Rwanda in an emotional journey captured in Peter Raymont's trenchant documentary
