Time Out says

Another quietly good film from Robert Duvall, sharing a similar emotional appeal to Tender Mercies. A young boy is killed in a shooting accident, and his nine-year-old brother is traumatised by the feeling of guilt and lack of emotional response from his family, who are cracking up all around him. The sense of stoicism from these Midwestern farm people is very well conveyed; as are some magic scenes between the boy and his grandfather, played by Wilford Brimley. CPea.
