Time Out says
Never have so many respected actors been assembled to do battle with a mountain-size smoke creature. Forget Clash of the Titans’ returning Sam Worthington (growing into an almost impressively dull presence)—you also have reprising gods Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, Carlos’s fiery Édgar Ramírez as Ares, two thick slices of ham in Bill Nighy and Danny Huston, plus tough Rosamund Pike to remind everyone that women can also holler on the battlefield for a paycheck. All of them slog through countless boring sword-and-sandal skirmishes, none of which feel remotely suspenseful, until the hugeness of it all becomes a mildly passable joke.
