On entering the Dalston Jazz Bar, we were met with the proprietor, who on first impressions was very polite and welcoming, however, after a brief discussion regarding our vouchers, slipped from the veneer of gentleman into the confrontational and rude individual he truly is. After, a very short altercation with my boyfriend, we were seated, upon, which we discovered that one of the chairs had chewing gum stuck to the top of it, which unfortunately attached itself to the underside of our friends bottom, ruining his jeans. The staff were unapologetic and nonchalant about the situation and failed to act appropriately or indeed professionally. The food was, edible, however just barely. It was so highly salted I grew concerned my friends and I might suffer a stroke or heart attack on leaving the restaurant. Additionally, one meal was so spicy it removed all sensation and feeling from my boyfriends face and left him without taste buds for sometime. Even worse was the so called dessert (uncooked Roasted Pears in Red Wine, with Blue Cheese), which, firstly was not cooked, the wine was cold, and there was no blue cheese to speak of. However, the sugar content was so high I developed a second illness, diabetes. All in all and joking aside, it raises serious questions and concerns about the quality of the food being produced and prepared in this restaurant; and indeed the professionalism of those involved. The toilets were in a disgusting and appalling condition; the staff apart from one waiter, were unorganised and so unmotivated that I worried that if they smiled their faces would crack like glass and tumble to the ground; adding to the overall gloom of this charcuterie. On the bright side, the music was enjoyable and the door didn’t hit us on the way out. Suffice to say I wouldn’t go back there again, even if you paid me for the inconvenience
