Video: watch people get a mystery tattoo from Scott Campbell

Remember earlier in the week when we told you about the pop-up tattoo parlour where you could stick your arm in a hole and get a free, albeit totally mystery, inking?

Celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell (he's previously inked famous bods such as Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom) is bringing his 'Whole Glory' project to London, after opening it in New York last year. It opens in Covent Garden tomorrow for three days, and it's expected to attract quite a big turnout.

Fancy a turn in the chair at the mercy of Campbell's needle? Here's everything you need to know.

What is it?

Tattoo artist Scott Campbell will offer people the chance to 'not take their physical selves so seriously' at 'Whole Glory'. You'll stick their arm through a hole in the wall where he'll be sat on the other side, tattoo gun in hand. He'll design and ink a completely bespoke tattoo depending on what he feels like your forearm needs. But you're not allowed any say in what that is.

Campbell will also debut a new body of work that has taken two years to create: a collection of 15 tattooed pig skin ‘quilts’ encased in stainless steel frames, floating in liquid preservative. Think Damien Hirst, but with tatts.

Where is it?

'Whole Glory' is being hosted by Lazarides Gallery in Covent Garden at 26 Henrietta Street, WC2E 8NA. The nearest tube stations are Covent Garden and Leicester Square.

How do I get my tattoo?

Tattoo slots are being given away via a lottery draw. You have six chances to enter over the course of three days. If your name is drawn, you're in the chair.

The lottery time slots each day are:

  • 10am–10.50am: Sign up for first draw, drawing at 11am
  • 11am–11.50am: Sign up for second draw, drawing at noon
  • Noon–12.50pm: Sign up for third draw, drawing at 1pm
  • 1pm–1.50pm: Sign up for fourth draw, drawing at 2pm
  • 2pm–2.50pm: Sign up for fifth draw, drawing at 3pm
  • 3pm–3.50pm: Sign up for sixth draw, drawing at 4pm

Draw rules:

You must be present at the time of the draw. Once your number is called you must present your ticket and photo ID within ten minutes or another number will be called. Your ticket is only valid for the selected time slot.

What time should I get there?

If the New York installation of 'Whole Glory' is anything to go by, there's going to be quite a turnout. Get there as early as you can for the best chance of bagging a slot. You can come back and try again if you don't have any luck first time.

Good luck!
