Vinyl buffs, rejoice: the Independent Label Market is back. Support for the record is still strong, and this market champions hard-copy releases by over 80 of the UK's best independent record labels, providing a platform for them to sell their records directly to music lovers. Get hold of some of the freshest LPs (and CDs, tapes and merchandise) and hang out with the ever-friendly label stallholders: each stall is manned by label staff, so the market offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy direct contact with industry professionals. This year, the Association of Independent Music will be offering their support to the event, with the market aiming to 'stand up for the independent music scene and remind people of how it all started – records from hand to hand.' Represented at the market are Chess Club, Bella Union, Domino, Fabric, No Pain In Pop, Fierce Panda, Luv Luv Luv, Soul Jazz, Erased Tapes, Double Denim and loads more. Be warned: you'll have to turn up as soon as the market opens if you want to have your pick of the exclusive and limited items on sale.
If all the shopping leaves you thirsty, the London Brewers' Market will be on hand with local, independent craft brews with the opportunity to chat to the brewers behind them. Beers from bottle, keg and traditional casks will be available to taste and with over 50 active breweries now in operation in London, there should be a great variety of flavours on offer. It's a great chance to sample beers from Brixton, Camden Town, Hackney and many more locations across London – you may even discover a brewery in your local area.
