It offers a menu of predominantly modern-British dishes from a classic dining room decked out with chesterfield sofas, crisp white linen, thick carpets and lots of mahogany. The restaurant takes its name from the old pronunciation of the locale.
British produce plays an important part on the menu, so expect dishes such as Orkney scallops with creamy horseradish polenta, watercress purée, emulsified leeks and prosciutto crisp, or Gressingham duck breast with fondant potatoes, sautéed spring veg, rhubarb and green apple purée and a balsamic jus.
The wine cellar features more than 300 bottles, with nearly 30 available by the glass. There's plenty of scope to be extravagant, should you wish to do so.
