Had lunch here on Friday 21st February, after seeing info on the internet, not realising they were not yet officially open – no mention was made when we made a phone reservation. Arrived to find only 2 other diners in the large room and no others arrived whilst we were there. Decided to stay anyway as staff made us very welcome and explained that launch date was the following week. Slightly shocked by prices on menu with starters mostly around £28, pasta courses and mains around £28 - £40 and deserts £20 upwards. Maybe not so unusual for a high end establishment but a set lunch menu option would have been good. Decided to just have glasses of wine and took advice from Sommelier which proved to be a good choice if expensive. First starter I chose was not available and whilst I understand that market availability may vary it would be useful to have been informed of unavailable items when we were first given the menu. So, we both went for the cuttlefish and artichoke with langoustine which was well presented with delicate but distinctive flavours. This was preceded by a delicate amuse-bouche. For mains I had the spaghettone with crab and green apple which was flavourful but could have benefitted from a little more sauce. My partner opted for the suckling pig which was succulent and well presented but came with slightly different accompaniments to those described by the waitress. Deserts were good and beautifully presented as were the pre-desert and the petite fours which came with the coffee. Overall an enjoyable if costly experience, although we were given a discount on food, presumably as we were unexpected diners in this pre-launch phase. No doubt with it’s Michelin star reputation in Italy Quattro Passi will attract a following in London but it will be for those with large wallets or open company credit cards. It may however be out of the running for others of us especially whilst other high end restaurants in London are currently offering remarkably good lunch deals and also some reasonably priced tasting menus. I wait with interest to read the critics opinions. Lunch for 2 with 4 glasses of wine £271.97 (including 25% discount)
