The Wellesley is a boutique hotel at the corner of Hyde Park, with an opulent Art Deco theme. Most famous for their cigar lounge, the hotel also offers afternoon tea - currently priced at £35 per person including a glass of champagne when booked through Regardless of the offer, this is without a doubt one of the best teas in London.

On a rainy Saturday afternoon we were ushered into the gilded and mirrored lounge, and seated on a neat and comfy sofa at our table in the corner. The service was superb from beginning to end, and our friendly waiters consistently refilled our cups.

The teas on offer were extensive and exotic, and the offered champagne a high quality brand.

Our experience began with strawberries and cream and ended with a birthday surprise, complete with candle. In between were delicious sandwiches (with top-ups of the egg mayonnaise), mini bagels, three different types of scone, a panna cotta palate cleanser and some beautifully dainty pastries.

We didn't feel at all rushed, relaxed for two hours and ended the day having truly over indulged.

The Wellesley is a top notch tea location, offering style, comfort and a delicious array of treats. I can highly recommend it and will definitely be making a repeat visit!
