Blue Tit
Stoke Newington

Forget slick looking minimal hair salons, this lovely indie hairdressers has a proudly maximalist interior with framed antique photographs, bare brick walls, a wooden bar over which hang delicate lightbulbs and lots of reclaimed vintage décor. The Dalston massive, try-hard city boys and east London locals tend to come here for trendy looks and dip dyes – but a classic fringe, or even a few Chelsea layers are also perfectly executed by skilled staff who specialise in listening to their customers. There's a good soundtrack, free wifi, and wine, beer, fresh juice and hot drinks topped up throughout your visit. The salon uses Davines products, which are more natural than most and smell amazing. You’ll find out all the goss from the cool 19-year-old salon assistant who will tell you about her boyfriend’s band as she washes your hair. Women cut and finish £53; men’s cut and finish £38. Bleach from £79.

I have been going to blue tit since they first opened in Hackney and always got an amazing colour. Highly recommend this hair salon!!

Had an appointment with Chris (tattooed guy) at Clapton and he was the rudest most unprofessional hairdresser I have had to deal with. He had clearly been out the night before and cut my hair uneven, rolling his eyes when I kindly asked if I could have a mirror to see the back of the cut. Will stick with Radio Hair next time.

For a company thats prides its self on giving the ultimate experience WELL it was an experience for sure! but frankly not a good one! Absolutely disgusted by their service! These people are by far the most unprofessional I've ever witnessed! Not only have they ruined my hair I now have to live with it until I can find someone to fix this mess! (100 different shades of purple and ginger) I don't appreciate being eye ball rolled either when I'm clearly upset and unhappy with the results! especially by lazy and young staff with a stinking attitude (Catherine)! The director who had agreed to meet me at 6.30pm the following day, strolled in at 9pm to sort it out! I'm sorry but if you took your customer complaints seriously you'd have arrived on time and wouldn't have a client sat there for 2 and half hours! Then expected me to then sit there for however long.. jabbering on that he would try and fix it (which is not how i'd originally asked for it) Then asked me to pay the full amount to mask a problem caused by his clearly untrained staff! NEVER AGAIN! Hipster hairdressers full of spiel! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! (the one star is for the guy that tried to calm me down that worked there!

I don't say this often about businesses but you should really avoid this place. For a business that charges a big fee (a least for blokes) I was expecting a lot more. The service is terrible, they messed my booking up and kept me waiting for ages. When it finally did come to my haircut it was completely opposite to what I asked for. I couldn't have been clearer. This is SO annoying because I have been growing my hair for ages in order for it to be cut in the right way. DEFINITELY AVOID.

Very talented stylists but service is shit. On several occasions, I've gone in for a fringe trim and have been asked to come back, even after having called ahead to confirm. Then as I leave to go all the way home, I'll see two stylists outside for a smoke. If you tell me to come in at a particular time and in general advise your clients to come in at 10 to the hour, maybe don't slip out for a smoke at that time.... I AM SO HAPPY THAT MUKU HAIR NOW HAS A SHOP IN DALSTON! Talented stylists and great service guaranteed!

fantastic hairdo , I was really impressed with bohimian atmosphere , relaxed but not spa way of handling my requests . Nice chilled out salon, best hair cut I ever had recommend everyone !

Got there early for appointment, thought atmosphere was really cool and music was awesome. Definitely more of an experience than just a hair cut. Think the boiler had broken during the day so a kettle was used to heat water to wash my hair. The stylist Kamila listened to exactly what I wanted and advised how the hair should be cut. I thought the glasses used to serve drinks were a little manky though and although it's great to have a vintage and upcycled look about the place, cleanliness could be improved. Overall, really happy with my haircut and maybe since it was a free cut I really enjoyed the experience!

Have to say that I am never going to any other hairdresser after going to Blue Tit. I had a disaster of an unwanted dip dye done at Beaucatcher in Church st and went to Blue Tit as I had heard great things about it. Ariane, the head colourist worked her magic and turned a horribly done dip dye into a flamboyage or balayage and I'm very happy about it now. They are super friendly, really listen to what you want and need and are absolute pros. Highly recommended it, really worth your time and money and ask for Ariane if you're thinking of doing colour.

Wanted to try this salon as it was the close to my house.. When arriving It all seemed a little hectic. My hair was cut by a young guy ( think his name was Andy ) haircut was pretty average. Although looked ok when I left Once I did it myself at home it was difficult to style and lacked any sort of shape. The salon seemed to be badly run as I was waiting a long time to get my shampoo done and all was quite scruffy. Wouldn't really recommend unless u are into a club type atmosphere instead of relaxing after long day at work!

Julia

Went to Blue Tit yesterday and walked out really happy. Ariane took great care of my colour while I had a lot of fun with Simone cutting my hair, is a laid back experience and the staff does not have a snobby attitude like in many other hair salons all over London. It was really nice and I was really happy with the results, will definitely be going back, oh and also Nico, the guy who washed my hair, gave me a head massage that was amazing, worth going back just for that. Really enjoyed it. Well done guys, keep up the good work.!

I randomly went to blue tit for the first time in february last year and have been going there ever since. They always do an amazing job and are really friendly and professional. Definitely the best salon I've been to.

I have not had my hair cut for over a year as I have a fear of hairdressers, but as I was recommended by a friend I decided to bite the bullet. I had a trim which is what I asked for and for the first time I got what I wanted! The staff were very friendly and caring and made sure my glass of White was topped up - Great head massages too!

Danica

Horrendous. After being disgustedly informed that my side parting was 'so 90s Jennifer Aniston' by a boy in socks and sandals (come on now) he then proceeded to attend my weave whilst pulling on a can of lager. Didn't listen to what I wanted, total disregard for the customer. When I left (feeling thoroughly miserable) the receptionist was brazenly racking up several biftas on the front desk. So ludicrously Nathan Barley, no redeeming features, no substance or soul and a horrendous lack of professionalism. Back to good ol' Taylor Taylor.

Nick

Brilliant salon, I've never paid much for a haircut until this year and I suddenly decided to try it out and spend a bit more. Haven't looked back since. Great bunch of people who really listen to what you want and make some insightful suggestions. Real professionals who take great care of their customers. Great atmosphere, banter and customer service.

Brenda

Im not really fun of hair salons but i have to say that after a suggestion of a friend and having my hair quite a mess, I decided to treat myself for my birthday; got an appointment with one of the hairdressers and since you cross the door is all an experience. I love the way my hair looks now, and even I got some of the products which have helped my hair to recover its shine and movement,,,Im really happy to recomend it!!! I even will get my hair done for my wedding next month there....

I came here last week. From the moment I walked in until the moment I left, my experience at Blue Tit was fantastic. The staff were lovely and friendly and my hair cut was one of the best I've had. My friend was with me, they offered her a freshly made smoothie which she drank in the hammock in their garden terrace while she waited. I thought that was pretty cool and something that no other places do! I've already booked in for a Brazilian Blow dry in a couple of weeks.

Regina

i went there last week to get my hair styled and loved the place straight from start the staff were very friendly and looked after all my needs even offering tea or coffee which makes you feel very relaxed. The design and lay out of the shop is i must say original in a good way the hairdressers are very professional and i left they feeling very happy with the style and would definitely be telling all my friends and family to go there, Thanks Guys.

The best salon in London! Have never been so pleased with my colour and hair cuts, and I'm a pretty hard girl to please! The atmosphere is great, all of the staff are so lovely that I really look forward to going in. Perry styled my hair for my wedding on 12th May this year and it looked absolutely bloody amazing! Awesome garden terrace too. You'd be mad not to like it.
