This small indie bookstore has had two monikers before this one - initially as the Tower Hamlets Art Projects in Whitechapel, then Eastside Books in its current location. A third name change a few years back created its current incarnation, Brick Lane Bookshop, where they stock a great range of fiction, local history and the usual non-fiction sections, along with cards, wrapping paper and gifts. If you head down on a Monday or Tuesday you can join in on the shop's regular writing group, and they also hold a monthly book club, the members of which get a 10 per cent discount on the relevant titles.
