Fear of Flying: Caught on Camera

Aviatophobia, it’s called, and apparently it affects 20 percent of the UK population. And this documentary threatens to bring it to pulse-pounding, sweat-soaked, armrest-gripping life. Filmed entirely by sufferers, their friends and family, ‘Fear of Flying’ will be attempting to capture exactly that for those of us lucky enough not to be afflicted. Which all sounds jolly exciting, but it’s hard to identify quite for whom all this is intended.

No preview copies were available, but C4 promises that experts will be explaining where the condition originates and how to address it. Even so, this could go either way depending on how sensational the treatment is (and C4’s track record here is, shall we say, turbulent). For now, it sounds worryingly like a bunch of people losing it on a plane for our entertainment. Prove us wrong, C4.
