Sam Francis (1923–1994) and John Chamberlain (1927–2011) may seem like an unlikely pairing for a two-person show, given Francis's lyrical, abstract canvases and Chamberlain's brutal crushed-car sculptures. But they were both, in their own ways, superlative colorists and masters of gesture, so as couples go, these two are far from odd.
